Weather permitting, Torrevieja Cricket Club’s inaugural outdoor game will be held on Sunday, February 28th 2010 at the Municipal Athletics track within the Sports Complex. The action is set to begin at noon and will feature a 40-Overs match against Intellectuals CC.
News that West Ham’s Chief Scout Jimmy Hampson is in Torrevieja and scouting for local talent for the new Elite Academy, headed up by FC Torrevieja’s Director of Football Tommy Taylor, has been inspiring local youngsters to play their very best. Case in point is the Under 10 Torrevieja ‘B’ team, who put 15 goals past a hapless Horadada team on Saturday.

Torrevieja Cricket Club finally managed to play their first ‘real’ game on Sunday 28th February at Torrevieja’s athletics stadium. Although greeted by a rather damp morning, newly-formed Torrevieja cricket club took on the might of Alicante cricket, in the form of Intellectuals Cricket Club.
FC Torrevieja’s players have something to smile about at long last. The new management team from SAMM Inc has announced that all players shall receive all wages in full for their services within the next three weeks, with wages for 2009 already paid out. Director of Football, Tommy Taylor, and club treasurer, Jefferson Scott, met with the squad to tell them the latest news. Taylor said that the players were “happy and delighted with the news”, and that “they were looking forward to continue to give their best for the remaining matches of the season”.
FC Torrevieja’s players are to get all the wages they are owed, including those for this February, by the end of this month.
If you are comfortable with such terms as, silly mid-off, googly, leg before wicket, leg brake and you fancy putting willow to leather, then the place to be at noon this Saturday, January 30th, is the Municipal Sports Centre in Torrevieja, to register your interest in Torrevieja’s Inaugural Cricket Team.
