Orihuela´s Plenary Meeting turns down CLR´s suggestion to open “Social Dining Room" for families
The CLR spokeman at the Town Hall of Orihuela, Pedro Mancebo, believes that "this service would be a great benefit to needy families in our area, who through no fault of their own, in the majority of cases due to losing their jobs and the financial crisis, find themselves living on the or, in the worst case, below the breadline”.

Ebro Valley water transfer could provide up to half a million jobs
Until the PSOE took over the mantle of power in Spain, the former PP government had proposed to redirect water from the Ebro Valley to the drought-ridden areas of Valencia and Murcia. The idea was two fold; on the one hand, the area around the Ebro, which has a history of flooding, would have a better water management program put into place while the drought ridden agricultural areas on the coast would have a plentiful supply of water.

Local Lions raise 10,000 euros for Haiti
At the quarterly zone meeting of local Lions Clubs, held in Los Alcazares and attended by representatives from Torrevieja Costa Lions, Torrevieja Suomi Lions and Mazzaron Bahia Lions, it was announced that the aggregate sum of the fund raising efforts of the three Clubs had raised in excess of 10,000.00 euros, around 14,000.00 US Dollars.

PSOE to launch new contact point for Entre Naranjos
The PSOE opposition party is to introduce a new contact point for the residents of Entre Naranjos and Laguna Green which will open every Wednesday, starting 31 March, between the hours of 11am until 1pm.
